Harstra Instruments was founded in 1940 by Mr. Harderwijk and Mr. Van Straaten and was located in Utrecht. Twenty years later Mr. Van der Ham sr. was employed as the new partner of Mr. Harderwijk. Before that, Mr. Van der Ham sr. had his own company, Paphyla, in which he developed scientific instruments.
After a while, also Mr. Harderwijk left the company and Mr. Van der Ham sr. became the owner. In 1983 he transferred the company to his only son Roland van der Ham who, with his education and experience, has made the company to what it is today.
Two years later, in 1985, the logo got its first update. Together with the well-known designer Robert (Ootje) Oxenaar, the logo is designed as it is still used today. Robert Oxenaar has also designes some of the Dutch banknotes.
